Dancing Under the Stars   DATE & TIME:  Friday June 18, 2010 Dancing Under the Stars 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM           LOCATION:   Outside Haverstraw Village Hall                               40 New Main Street                               Haverstraw, New York 10927                               (at the Intersection of Maple Avenue)    HAVERSTRAW, NY – The Village of Haverstraw comes alive with“Dancing Under the Stars" on Friday June 18th 2010. The event is presented by the Arts Alliance of Haverstraw & Greater Haverstraw Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by the Town & Village of Haverstraw. This will kickoff of the third annual Dancing Under the Stars series. The event will feature music by one of Rockland’s top party bands, The Groove Machine, playing everyone’s favorite dance tunes from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and today. Refreshments will be available and there will be café style seating available for dancers who want to rest their feet or those who are just coming to enjoy the music. The event is open to all ages. A perfect night out with friends or the family! The definition of Graffiti is “ markings that convey a message”. The rich history of this art form stems as far back as cave painting and as current as today’s hip-hop trends. Explore lettering and sketching styles from primitive to present in this new class that brings a positive perspective to a new generation of art and creativity.

Explore the fundamentals of many styles that come together in the energetic Hip-Hop Dance.  The class will break down steps, techniques and emphasize style and personality in your dance.

Think line dancing is just for Country folks??!! Well, it’s not!!! There is a new wave of line dancing hitting the party scene and it’s coming to the Arts Alliance of Haverstraw! Come join us as we learn the basic steps of line dancing to the latest pop, rock, and hip-hop music heard on the radio. Get a group of your friends together and come line dance with us today!

This class is an introduction to the fundamentals of art. Explore various drawing and painting techniques using different media, including pencils, charcoals, watercolors, and acrylics. Ages 5+

Explore modern fashion trends. Learn about form, fit, and flattery. Create templates and outfit designs. Learn to use fabric swatches in creating designs. Discover how Accessories and ornamentation can bring designs to a new level. Ages 9+

Join this class to explore water-based paints and learn to create your own masterpieces using different techniques. Ages 9+

Learn movements from various dance styles including Modern, Ballet, Latin and African. Students will work together to create their own dances using the different styles.

Learn the basic steps and partnering to the most popular Latin club dances on the dance floor today: Cumbia, Merengue, Bachata, Salsa,and  Chacha.
